I had the pleasure of joining Emily Fenech on the HR Voices Podcast last month to talk about the future of work and the challenges facing people teams today.

We explored how HR is navigating a rapidly shifting landscape:

  1. Global uncertainty and complexity impacting transformations

  2. Emerging technologies like AI, and how HR must move from just using tech to leading workforce transformation

  3. Resource constraints amid rising expectations, with 65% of HR leaders anticipating budget cuts

  4. Generational communication gaps, expertise gaps, and loneliness as a business risk

I shared practical strategies for leaders: prioritizing effectively, designing employee experiences that acknowledge trauma and real-world challenges, assessing for agility and coachability in hiring, and ensuring technology is a tool—not a distraction.

A key theme: AI is reshaping HR, and leaders need to learn fast, experiment thoughtfully, and guide teams thoughtfully through change while making strategic use of new technologies.

Takeaway: HR leaders must lean into change, focus on people first, and use technology to amplify impact, not replace it.
